Forest Antenna

GAMBLETRON

Meinblau Projecktraum, Berlin, 2018

CURATED BY MARIA HINZE

FOREST ANTENNA is a mixed media FM radio sculpture/ feedback instrument, created for public interaction and noise performance.

It was conceived as a sequel to "Circles:Emanation" addressing an artists relationship with higher powers when improvising.

Using a combination of surface transducers, radios and recievers- when the metal is manipulated the artwork is able to create an array of beautiful feedback. An interaction between the vibrations of a “non-station” and the radio’s antenna connected to elements it shouldn't be connected to - creating an interference and a physical feedback between the antenna and the metal . It was curated as part of Tokyo Morandi a group show at Meinblau Projektraum in May 2018.

NEAR FIELD- a "chapter 2" of this project was created three years later in 2022 thx to a residency and outdoor festival running offsite for Documenta 15 called Via Detour, curated by Maria Hinze and Peter Becker at Robin's Nest Baumhaus Hotel in a forest near Kassel, Germany.
